Portrait of Joanna Masson, lawyer at the Paris Bar

Joanna Masson

Lawyer at the Paris Bar
Founder of the Odoné law firm, Joanna Masson spent seven years at the CNIL, including three in the sanctions department.

Background

Before founding Odoné, Joanna Masson practised for seven years with international law firms, then spent seven years at the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL), including three in its sanctions department.

This experience gave her an in-depth understanding of how the authority operates: its approach to supporting compliance, its inspection methods, and its handling of complaints and sanction proceedings.

She now advises companies on complex personal data protection matters, both in their compliance work and in inspections, complaints and sanction proceedings before the CNIL.

Since 2022, Joanna has also been a lecturer in data-protection law at École des Ponts ParisTech.

She holds a dual Master’s degree in French and English law (University of Cambridge and Paris II Panthéon-Assas), a Master’s degree in Industrial Property Law (Paris II), and a Master’s degree in Private Law (Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne).
